How to Get Started with KnowledgeHound: Your First 30 Days and Beyond
The thought of getting started with a data discovery platform may seem like a daunting task. Gathering, cleaning and tagging data? Yikes. The good news is, though, KnowledgeHound is an expert in efficiency. Even when it comes to the implementation of our platform. We aim to get our customers slicing and dicing actionable insights from at least three studies within their first 30 days with KnowledgeHound.
Whatever the size of your company or the amount of data you wish to input in the long-haul, our deployments all follow a similar roadmap. First, our team will help you activate your company’s KnowledgeHound portal. This includes everything from helping you gather data from your suppliers to cleaning and importing that data. Then, we’ll work with a small group at your organization to build awareness and understanding of the platform and what is available within it. Once things are running smoothly, we’ll work with you to boost adoption and help build a culture of advocacy around data discovery at your organization.
One of the ways we get programs up and running quickly is by having a dedicated pair of KnowledgeHound experts on every account. During the first month and beyond, your team will be in touch with two primary contacts from our team: an enterprise relationship manager and a data processing team member. Here’s how this pair will assist you in getting started:
1: We’ll Build You a Relevant and Dynamic Portal
One of the first steps is to input data from surveys that you want to access on the platform. We recommend choosing your top few recently conducted surveys that you plan to use to address questions related to specific projects you’re working on to get the ball rolling.
To input this data, we’ll do the work uploading data directly to the portal for you. We’ll also coordinate with your third-party research vendors on your behalf to save you all the hassle of back and forth emails. The information we’ll request includes survey data files (SPSS, .CSV, .SAV) as well as any supporting documentation including original questionnaires, stimuli, and reports. Our goal is not just to provide you with a data discovery portal but a portal that gives you access to the answers you need.
So, what are you responsible for during this period?
- Vendor introductions. You’ll connect our team to the relevant data sources so that we can coordinate data transfer with them directly.
- Your input on how you’d like to see your data organized and tagged. Ultimately, we want to help you search your data faster. If there are specific metadata tags that would help get you started, we’ll be happy to set those up to make your search intuitive for your team.
- Custom branding and DIY Integrations. Based on your package, you will have the option to customize the way your company’s portal looks by uploading images and adding a color scheme. You’ll also have the option to connect your DIY platforms to your KnowledgeHound instance.
The first two items are essential to helping your insights team test out how the platform can help them answer questions and represent survey-level results using compelling visuals. But the design of your portal isn’t frivolous – when it’s time to roll this platform out to different teams or share it with executive stakeholders, the level of polish will make a difference on delivery.
During this period, one member of your marketing insights team will be in close contact with your account contacts at Knowledgehound. This period consists of calls to discuss your site’s set-up and email coordination with vendors, as well as file collection and sharing.
While your contacts at KnowledgeHound will handle external file gathering, data processing and and data loading, your buy-in is essential during implementation to ensure that your portal meets your company’s data discovery needs.
2: Launch Your Portal to the Market Research or Insights Team
Once your portal is activated, you’ll have a template to work with that is stocked with valuable data from three studies that’s well-organized and ready for your market research or insights team to begin using.
To help you make the most of this data analysis tool, we’ll conduct a 3-10 person training. This will ensure that everyone knows how to make use of this new resource and to familiarize your team with your support system at KnowledgeHound.
We aim to make the onboarding process as simple as possible for your team, but we’re invested in making sure your team understands how to create compelling visuals and pull customer insights from your company’s data.
From this point on, pulling and presenting data shouldn’t be a pain because you have the right data discovery tool on hand. If your team finds that they need help adjusting tagging or suggestions for how to improve the portal’s organization, we’re there to help.
3: Bring in More Studies and More Stakeholders
We’ll work with you to collect more studies and add them to your portal. If you work with third-party providers, we’ll work directly with these teams to help input data and keep your team moving forward.
As your insights team uses this solution, you may want to bring in more teams or stakeholders to use the portal to work on their projects as appropriate. We typically recommend taking it easy: it can be tempting to start running as soon as you learn to walk, but taking a month or two to ensure your tagging and portal organization is set up the way you want it is typically worth the wait.
As you add sources, refine your tagging practices, and demonstrate the value of this resource to your organization, you may find that a few natural advocates emerge – power users who are great ambassadors for your KnowledgeHound portal. This is a great sign, as it indicates that your company is starting to unlock the value of the rich survey responses you collect.
Moving Forward with KnowledgeHound
A few months into your new data discovery program, you may notice that employees who embrace this new technology are excited by their ability to answer questions with data (without commissioning a new survey or study). They’re empowered by the insights they uncover, and they see the potential these insights to shape their organization’s trajectory.
However quickly your team adopts this new tool, you’ll have your original support team with you every step of the way to ensure that your team is getting the actionable insights and visual representations you need to help communicate with stakeholders, inside your company and beyond your network’s walls.
